Finally the end of the month is coming... work’s coming along ok, but a little on the quiet side… been able to blog more this week… hahahaha…

it’s all working out for me now… am loving every minute of my life… things are working out the way they should be… it seems as though nothing can go wrong now… just don’t wanna get too excited… don’t wanna jinx anything…

Been reading Chicken Soup for the Romantic Soul… I know, I know… its Oprah in a book… it’s romantic though… makes me believe in love and the essence of it all…

Twenty six years of my life and I’ve been chasing after love… I’ve always had the same image for the man that I wanna spend my life with… I wanted him to be the Prince Charming like all fairy tales… and my wedding to be the talk of the town… I wanted an ending to be “happily ever after”…

I realized that all in all I loved the idea of having the whirlwind romance… I never stopped to think about the aftereffects of it all… I chose men that swept me off my feet then swept me under their feet… yes we had good times but that doesn’t mean the black clouds should be ignored… things that were adorable and lovable soon seem to be unbearable… habits that I thought I could break turns out to be a characteristic trait… after some time I stop trying and I’m blamed for not trying to work things out…

After making all the mistakes, I finally found someone to teach me the right way… NO!!!!!!
We are not going on or anything like that… but when I’m with him, I learn so much… learnt how to live life and not be uptight over everything… learnt to let things go and enjoy the simple pleasures in life… life is not all about clubbing and enjoying… life can be a simple pleasure, like enjoying a nice quiet dinner, or kicking back to a nice movie in the comforts of your own home… he has made me realize that friends don’t make me the person that I am… I have the freedom to choose who I want to be friends with…

I treasure every one of my friends and would lay my life for them… I wouldn’t want a group of fakers to be around me… my small and intimate group of friends is good enough for me...
Anyhoo, I know that I don’t want some grand and fancy wedding… all I want is the guy to tell me that he loves me and I know that I will his forever… no fancy church or dress can replace the feeling…

Ps. Veron, Deb, & Ling, no matter where and when I get proposed, I WILL call you!!!!!
Pss. No matter which part of the world I intend to get married, you three will be the bridesmaids…
Psss. I love everyone in my life that has seen me go through life and are there for me all the time….
HUGGIES & KISSES to all….

I’ve decided that there are four types of people in the world…

1. Intelligent People (which includes mua)

2. Stupid People

3. Idiot People

4. Spastic People

Intelligent people, like me, know what to do and when to do stuff…

Stupid people, do the right stuff, wrong time…

Idiot people do wrong stuff, right time…

Spastic people are those who do everything wrong and nothing right…

Sometimes, one wishes that such people would disappear from the face of the earth however when we, intelligent people, think about it, these people help us stay sane and normal or else all of us would have turn out to be geeks…

I swear some people just do stuff on purpose and to gain attention… I worry about them… craving for attention and all… I bet their childhood was pretty lonely… no one to pay attention to them so they grow to be random attention seekers… no matter how irritating they got, I would be never wish them dead…

YOU KNOW WHY?????????????

They are my source of entertainment………..

Last week was great…met Bharat after a long time…we were supposed to meet for coffee but ended up doing so much more…we met up at Bugis and headed to Breeks for coffee… but we ended up drinking Corona… it tasted ok…better than other beers…but I still love my red wine…reminiscing about the past was fun…
He is now some big time producer who has worked with some big time people in the UK… he’s now a SUPERSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahahaha….
Talking about the people and the place… BP was the happening place… I remember clubbing every single night… he would miss school and his girl friend would miss work… all chilling in BP… jeez… how the 2 years pass… I have no idea… taught me a lot of lessons those years…
He was nagging about me being single and not settling down… He sounded a bit like my mom… hahahahaha… Well, he gave me an ultimatum… if I am not married by next year, he will find me a guy and get me married off… *yea like that would happen; I would be running off the other direction when it comes to commitment*
he was kinda shock when he found out that I stopped clubbing… he thought I was the same… hahahahaha… the last I actually clubbed was on my birthday when I was super gone… so that night we decided to check out the Hindi pubs as well as have good North Indian food… we ended up in Shish Mahal…
oohhhh!!!!! I missed their food terribly… the waiter, Ramesh, I think recognized me and went out of his way to make me feel comfortable… I had good Hindustani khana and I was over the moon… according to Bharat, I was like a school girl, getting all excited… the problem was I have not had Hindustani khana for long time because Luke cannot take spicy food… and Western Food compared to Indian food, tasted kinda bleh… not that I don’t enjoy looking for good places to eat…
After eating, we head down to Boat Quay… took a bus there…felt weird but good…it was too early to go in anywhere else so we decided to be high - class sharabis and drink “orange juice”…we walked down Boat Quay and found the place to be dead at 11 at night… was pretty shocked… ended walking to Clarke Quay… Bharat decided to tell me loads of stuff…some of which has scared me for the rest of my life… things I didn’t need to know but was informed by Mr. Bharat Goel… finally, we ended up in Rupee Room…
Oh Good GOD!!!! I never knew Hindi music sounds so good… I guess the fact that I’ve not gone out for a long time played a huge part in me enjoying that night… I was off the hook… dancing all night long… Bharat got tired but he kept on dancing with me…poor guy…
After Rupee Room, we wanted to check out Krissh and Club Colaba… we found them dead and headed back to Rupee Room… I finally left at 4am…had work the next day…but was really happy to have spent a night out with him… we took some pix and they are with him… will upload them as soon as he passes them to me…
Went home to sleep for awhile and headed out to work…came back home and got ready to go out to the Melbourne Comedy Festival… been waiting for it for ages…
Luke picked me up at 6 and we went to have dinner at Café Iguana… food, just like Brewerkz, was not fantastic… drinks were awesome… there was an irritating French man trying way too hard to impress the girl…
Managed to finish our dinner without killing anyone and headed off to the DBS thingy where the festival was to be… I didn’t get lost which was a good thing…
Parking was easy… got to the place and I was shocked to see so many Aussies… I kinda knew there were loads of expats but Aussies kinda dominated the expat market… Luke was equally shocked… I got the tickets and he got the drinks… White wine tasted horrible and we shared a glass… he didn’t get his coffee…
The bell rang and we went into the auditorium…
Dave Callan was the emcee for the night… we both enjoyed the bit about his “special moustache”; it was so special that it grew on his chin… AND IT’S CALLED A “BEARD”… every time he walked in, there was rock music playing in the background… he looked like a rocker plus the music amplifying his persona… he was cool and we loved the SIM LIM = WHORE HOUSE FOR GEEKS… it was hilarious and the funny things was Luke and I were there the week before getting him a lap top and he said something of that nature too… he was joking about Utt’s new advert for chicken essence which I think is so gay… let’s all give him a LOL!!!!!!!
Hannah Gadsby was good; talking about lesbos and fat-phobic people… describing Tassie and all… she rocked… BIG - HIPPED PEOPLE ARE INSANELY FUNNY!!!
2nd speaker was Sammy J… I swear there’s something in his juice… he was majorly hyper… he took of a button every time the ladies made a cat call and when he took off his shirt, he was amazingly skinny….eeeewwwww!!!!!! Thank God! Luke is big!!!!
There was a short break after the 1st act and Luke needed his coffee… we got out and he handed me his wallet, “Love, You know what I want… I’ll see you outside…”
He can’t handle crowds…
We went in for the second half….someone had actually gone out and bought a bottle of chicken essence and dared him to drink it… he said he was a vegetarian and would not try it and out comes Sammy, gulping it down…
We love the 3rd speaker, Dave Thornton…he was simply amazing… he was talking about being unemployed and tradesmen… and I could relate to the tradesmen, thanks to Luke…
The last speaker, Denise Scotts, was more into the breast and sluts and shitty people living in this world…
Overall, it was a perfect and wonderful night… needed a good laugh and boy did I get it all…
Met some of colleagues there and the 6 of us went to the corner for a drink… the company was great, the drinks were cheap… Barbara was nice… I think we were the only 2 out of the industry… she was in the airline industry and I am in the travel industry… so we were talking about ANG-MOH men and all while the rest were talking about the industry… we left nearing to midnight and Luke’s Lucifer eyes had come out… reached home about 12.45am, changed and slept…
The next morning, we ventured towards the Rail Mall… memories came flooding back to me… I miss Cold Storage Shopping… we bumped into his friend, Paul, I think, I’m so sorry I’m bad with names… we had breakfast at Coffee bean which was surprisingly good…they talked for awhile and we left to head out to town while they wanted to go some beer-fest…
We couldn’t get a parking lot in Suntec, thus pissing him further… we got out and got a lot in Marina Square…
Went to Habanos to get his cigars and sat at the Hawaiian concept joint for some Mango – Orange Shake… it was refreshing in the heat… sat and talked about everything while he smoked his cigar… we headed to Marina Square… found a new Yank restaurant and decided to give it a try… the food was good and the price was cheap… in fact it was much better than Iguana…
Luke was falling sick…and I’m kinda worried for him… he looked and sounded horrible…I think the stress and sleep deprivation is taking a toll on him…
Hopefully, he will feel better….
Got home and brought my babies out… Romeo is super pampered… he sleeps on my bed with me and loves to sit on my lap… love him to bits though…
Wanted to sleep early but I ended up watching Tenacious D and I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry… ended up sleeping at 1 am…
Took a cab again this morning…hopefully I can break this habit soon coz it’s getting really expensive…
Phew… that’s a long post…
Well, till the next post…
Ciao…

Outline: Is Jurong Bird Park worth every penny?

The journey from Orchard Road to the Jurong Bird Park was a long bus ride. As I look on both sides of the expressway and roads, I found them flanked with a mixture of high and low rise concrete buildings.

How on earth can one have a bird park amidst all these buildings? Won’t the birds get confused?” exclaimed my friend, Jean, who has never been to Jurong Bird Park with me.

Tucked in the corner of the western, industrial area of Singapore, Jurong Bird Park is a sight for sore eyes. Amongst the concrete jungle, one would be amazed to find a lush, green environment, even the structures are made to incorporate the “green” theme.

In Singapore, where land is scarce, a hefty 20.2 hectares was allocated to the Jurong Bird Park. The Jurong Bird Park houses 9000 birds from 600 species and specializes in birds from Southeast Asia, making it one of the largest in the world.

The mission state of the Bird Park is to conserve, research, educate and recreate.

As I entered the park, I was pleased to find myself being transported to another world, a world with beautiful flowers, plants and the different calls of different birds. However, the downside was the honking of huge vehicles emitting from the main road.

As we crossed the entrance, we found a map indicating where the rest of the attractions were located as well as the timings of the different bird shows.

We walked further into the park and saw the African Wetlands exhibit. The design was to stimulate wetland with tall grasses and aquatic riverside plants. Aptly named, most of the birds originate from the African wetlands. As I spoke to an Indian tourist, he was amazed at how the birds believe that they are in their homelands and not some man made environment.

Venturing further, we went into the “World of Darkness”. As we entered, we overheard a tourist guide explaining the concept of the place.

The design stimulates night sky in the star-lit jungle path bypassing a mangrove swamp. There is also an icy mountain patch for the Snowy Owls. Please bear in mind that flash photography is not allowed in the exhibit and do wait for awhile before entering so that your eyes would get adjusted to the darkness.”

As we walked into the exhibit, I was fascinated to find a vast variety of owls. Personally I liked the barn owl. At first glance, I thought that it was just an ornament until it blinked and swooped down to catch its prey.

I asked a care-taker when do the owls rest and she told me that after closing hours, there would be bright lights in the exhibit. This is to stimulate the day sky and to give them a chance to rest.

Leaving the “World of Darkness”, we went to catch the “Birds ‘n Buddies” show. It was a treat for the young and old alike. One never knows where to watch out for the birds.

Presenters were emphasizing that the birds were trained professionally and no one should try this at home. The message that one should be kind to animals was put across subtly.

As the show ended, we proceeded to the Southeast Asia Aviary to catch the mock thunderstorm that happens once a day at noon.

The board outside the aviary read as this is where we could watch the birds in action, trying to hide so as to not get wet.

Unfortunately, most of the birds were in hiding thus only fluttering and the calls were heard. We got wet as there was a slight drizzle during the thunderstorm.

As we walked out of the aviary, one could see that the place is children-orientated. From the playgrounds, to the baby pool and the shows organized, the place has become a learning ground for children.

As we walked past the pool, watching the children play in the water half-tempted us to join them. The thought of us being soaked through was a relief against the humidity.

However, we stopped ourselves as the thought of wet clothes sticking to our body throughout our journey home disgusted us.

Proceeding on to the Penguin Parade, “an exhibit that should not be missed” according to tourists and locals alike.

Stepping into the exhibit, I was not prepared for the extreme temperature drop. It was about 10 degrees compared to the 31 degrees outside. The penguins seemed oblivious they were on display and we caught a pair of penguins engaging in the act of “recreation”.

A group of young children saw it and were screaming, “Mummy!!!! They are fighting.” Parents turned pink and ushered their children out with the promise of an ice-cream each.

Ironically, the exit of the Penguin exhibit is the entrance of the gift shop where parents were seen haggling with their children on which toy to buy and which is the cheapest.

I would suggest to patrons to buy food and drinks before coming to the park. Everything is over-priced. For two dollars, one would get 1.5 liter bottled water but at the park, you would get a 500ml bottle. An ice-cream that would cost a dollar cost nearly three dollars.

We then heard another rumble. It was no bird but our tummies beckoning us to have our lunch.

Walking towards the exit, we found ourselves in another gift shop. It was as though the park was telling the visitors to stock up on what they have bought or to buy more.

Exorbitant prices stopped us from getting anything. Some of the items, for example a jumbo pencil were going for twelve dollars, when we could get it for five dollars at a discount store with a free sharpener thrown in.

Walking towards Bongo, the exterior reminded one of prehistoric times. The stoned exterior and the rough cut furniture reminded me of exhibits I see at the museum. As we walked in, there was a contrast. The interior reminded me of Mexico, with the smell of salsa, and the cactus as well as the sombrero.

Staff were cheerful but impatient as we took sometime to decide what to have. The restaurant was nearly empty and yet they looked as though they had to be somewhere. We ordered a Bongo Burger as well as Fish and Chips. They cost us thirty dollars. Shocked, we decided to wait for our meal.

The meal arrived half an hour later. Apparently they have punished us for being indecisive. The Bongo burger was a normal cheeseburger and the Fish tasted as though it had been fried twice. The fries that came along were plump and moist.

The plus factor would have been the mugs that they serve the drinks in. they look like bottles with handles. We wanted to siphon the mugs if not for the hawk-eyed staff.

In all the dining experience would be better if only the food was less expensive and there would be variety of restaurants available.

Children will find this place as a learning centre due to the many plagues around the sites that can be read by their care-takers or parents.

However, the place is equally commercialized. The strategic positioning of the gift shops as well food counters makes one unable to avoid. Adults would ignore, on the other hand, children get agitated and start to throw tantrums until they get something to stop thinking about the heat.

Overall, visiting the Jurong Bird Park was an eye-opener. As a Singaporean, I never knew that there were so many different things to do at the park. The color of the background as well the colorful birds brings one into another realm. It’s a calming but expensive experience.

The day that I have been waiting for is finally here… I’M FREE!!!!!!!!!!!

No more assignments from UNISA anymore… Yes I’m finally done with school…

To all those people who thought that I could not make it… IN YOUR FACE!!!!!!!!!!

My next step, I think is to do my Masters… in what? I’m not too sure…I think I’ll take some time…wanna expand my business first…

My tourism studies on the other hand, has been put on hold… my MCQ is on the eighteenth next month… gotta study hard man… I know I can do it…

met Su Su y’day… bought him a shirt for his birthday…asked him to meet me ‘cause I needed him to be my model… he was sulky and his exact phrase was “I FEEL CHEAP”… hahahahaha… when I gave him the shirt, he was elated… after 2 years, I finally gave him a gift… price of the shirt = $XXXXX.00 price of the look on his face = PRICELESS… hahahahahahaha…

he told me last week over MSN his relationship was over… I felt sad… when we met y’day; we were talking about his r’ship… I knew that he loved his girl… he always told me he saw a future with her… he seemed to have embraced the truth of them being apart…

It got me thinking… Been going through loads of stuff in my mind… over the past years, I’ve done loads of stuff, some good and some bad… I’ve never regretted anything so far…all this made a better and stronger person… made me realize who are my friends and joy-riders… I’m at good place now… I enjoy coming to work, no matter how tiring it can be… I enjoy my lil puppy no matter how times I scold him… He can’t use the toilet to do his business… he prefers that everyone watch him do his stuff… pretty funny actually… quite an attention seeker… he doesn’t like being ignored… my life right now is going great… I’ve had my good days and bad days… but right now, everything is going great…I’m glad I took all the decisions… it might have been tough to stick by them but it’s so worth it…

On a brighter note, UNISA Study Group 9 is meeting for dinner next week… I miss you guys… the rush, the joy and the sadness…I really hope that all of them can make it… Ver, Ras, Debbie and I can make it but the rest has not given an answer as of yet…

Its August next month…the year seems to be coming to an end… it’s so sudden… too fast in fact… I’m gonna be yet again a year older and that is not a good thing… haiz…

Well, as the saying goes “out with old and in with the new”, so hope that next year I would be getting the good news that I am hoping for…

As for my Australia trip, I might be postponing it… It all depends on my tourist guide exams…

Maybe I’ll go there in June… it would be winter and a nice change from the ever-summer Singapore…

Ok… I gotta go now…

Wanna go home and play with my baby Romeo…

Ciao

Update: I just got off the phone with Veron; she can’t make it on Tuesday, so we are all meeting on Monday, I think…

Wednesday, July 09, 2008

It’s coming to about a month since I last blogged. Been really busy with work and school… I flunked my tourist guide exams so have to wait till August before I register again… so that’s blehhhh!!!! However, I’ve only got 1 assignment left…then I’m a free birdie… muhahahahahahahahaha *evil laughter* <----- Ver... i don't know whether you would be reading this; but it's for you....

It’s been a pretty eventful past month …Been watching a lot of movies…I think there are no movies to watch anymore…two weekends ago, I brought my mom and brother out to watch “Get Smart”…it was a good movie…I grew up watching Get Smart so I kinda knew about the older gadgets like the “SHOE PHONE” and the phone booth…it was funny…couldn’t stop laughing… on Sunday met up with Luke to watch “You don’t mess with the Zohan” and that night I met Kak Asmah to watch “SATC”…it was such a good movie…I want my happy ending…*haiz*…

over the past few weeks, I met up with Ravin a few times...it was good to meet up after so long…he has matured over the 2 years…went shopping on Friday with Kak Asmah and blew about $600.00 within 2 hours…quite a achievement…bought so much stuff…spent weekdays mostly working and trying to finish assignments…

Saturday was the bomb…Luke surprised me by telling me that it’s gonna be my day…normally half the time he was always stressed over work and would be calling in to find out his crew progress…but on that day, he told me that he won’t get distracted…so finally I had him to myself with no work attachments…we went to catch the movie “Wanted” which was kinda cool… would definitely watch the movie again…we went out for dinner and went back home after that…The next day, we went to causeway point to watch “Incredible Hulk”…’Hulky’ is cute… *enough said*

I realized that I’ve pretty much stopped clubbing…I think it’s a good thing…most of my weekends are spent either at home or I’m out with Luke… I’m so sorry to all…I dunno why I don’t feel like clubbing…I think I might go this weekend…kinda miss clubbing….hahahahaha…

I think things are starting to fall in place now…I feel so much better…things are starting to come into perspectives and fog of confusion is disappearing….

In short, compare to me to the last year “ME”…. I think I’m happier now…..
