This what i wrote for a class reflection piece.....Surprised to get a Distiction.....
On the night before the presentation, the eleventh hour, we found out that the session 10 is from the course book and not the CD-rom as I had assumed. I felt upset and thought that I had disappointed the team. Even though no one blamed me, I could tell they were angry. Subsequently, we managed to gather our thoughts and decided to embark on a new direction, the actual given topic. Two nights before, 15 May 2008, everyone, excluding Ras, who was absent, decided to do a skit on a French man taking over a local chicken rice stall. This would cover our module of culture diversity. Ras was informed by Adrian calling him on his mobile the next day. Veronica, Debbie and I communicated through our mobiles trying to get some ideas about the skit and we decided to discuss them in class with the rest of out team mates.
Alas, that was not the case.
Finding out that we were on the wrong track, we quickly started reading the new chapters and debating on a new topic. I know that I can be dominating but I was trying to set an idea as no one had anything to say. Apparently, that seemed to be the wrong thing as an argument had erupted, making things progressively get out of hand and no one seemed to agree with anyone. Adrian was trying to absorb the new topic, Veronica was keeping mum, unsure of what to say, Debbie came up with an idea regarding her work place, Ras, Joanna and I started to debate on the topic that I came up with. Things got out of hand eventually. Joanna, Adrian and I went to another desk to come up with a skit while Debbie, Ras and Veronica were planning to work on Debbie’s idea. Since we were given the most time to present, we decided to stick on to the initial plan of doing the skit and having two different acts to depict the different effects of globalisation and the introduction of technology. I agreed and we delegated our duties mutually.
I agreed to plan out the PowerPoint slides for the conclusion of the skit that I was going to present while Adrian and Joanna would come up with the dialogues. Debbie and Veronica were to be the director of the other skit while Ras was supposed to come up with the PowerPoint slides. As it was late and the cleaners had to lock up, we decided to head home and to do our parts for the assignment.
Once home, we communicated through mobiles as well as emails. I started working on my slides and I called Adrian informing him that I would be emailing my slides for him to take a look at and to incorporate other information that I had missed out. I also told him that I do not have my thumb drive and asked him to save it on his thumb drive and asked him to bring it tomorrow. I tried to call Joanna but I think she was asleep as she did not answer her mobile. I talked to Veronica discussing the argument we had in class as well as the after-effects.
Veronica was worried that if we stuck to doing two different skits then Julia would assume that the team had split into two an we were doing our individual work. I agreed with her and told her that we shall discuss this at lunch tomorrow when we meet before classes.
Personally, the bigger the group, the harder to get consensus from as everyone has their own perspective and ideas. We have worked in a group before and we always seemed to get everything done with out confrontations. However, we believe that due to the high percentage of this assignment, it brought out the ugly side of us. It is sad as this is our last semester together and I do not want us to part with grudges in our hearts. Hopefully after tomorrow’s presentation, we could go out for a nice friendly dinner and we would be able to put everything behind us and be friends again.
This what my lecturer commented it :

You have provided a good account of the way that the group overcame a last minute hitch in the preparation of the presentation. You account is quite emotional but that is understandable given that you hold yourself responsible for the last minute problem. The cohesiveness of the group was demonstrated by the way in which the group pulled together an excellent presentation and your previous experiences have worked to ensure that the group worked together well in a productive manner.
